INEA is a non-profit and independent company.

Mission and vision

Our mission is to contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by raising the awareness and knowledge about sustainable use of energy. Our vision is Inland Norway carbon neutral before 2030, which is in line with the national Norwegian climate goals. Another important aim is to assist the implementation of the goals of the EU Green Package before 2020.

Main objectives

The company's main objectives are to:

  • Provide highly qualified, independent and up to date information on the rational use of energy and development of renewable energy sources
  • Stimulate the use of relevant state-of-the-art technology and best practice in the Inland Region and other parts of Norway
  • Raise awareness among individual households, local businesses and public authorities

Services and target groups

The Inland Norway Agency offers unbiased information and assistance within the fields ofenergy efficiency and the use of renewable energy to public and private businesses and households. Our focus areas are:

  • Buildings
  • Transportation
  • Awareness and capacity building on the rational use of energy
  • Agriculture and forestry

History and vision

Inland Norway Energy Agency is the first of its kind in Norway, and was officially opened 28 August 2009. INEA was established with support from the EU programme Intelligent Energy Europe (IEE), and is owned by the regional county administrations of Hedmark and Oppland and the regional energy company Eidsiva Energi.
